LG Q8 is the smaller, waterproof LG V20 you really wanted

The LG Q8 just popped up on the company’s Italian site, detailing a new phone actually what’s likable about it ,that the LG Q8 isn’t much different than the V20. running Android Nougat 7.0 on the same Snapdragon 820.
The V20 itself was a pretty lackluster phone in most regards, but maybe the Q8 will be a different story. This, of course, being LG means that we should talk about the cameras and display for a moment.

the LG V20 and its predecessor are in a class of their own, phones that have two screens. The main display operates as you’d expect, but the always-on second screen is reserved for notifications, quickly launching into your favorite apps, and showing extra bits of information, like the time and date. You can also toggle quick settings here, like turning on the flashlight, and customize the default signature to show a personal note, like a mantra or a reminder.

The LG Q8 does have some differences, though. Among the more notable are its IP67 rating against water and dust, letting it sit at the bottom of a meter of water for up to 30 minutes.

Though it’s not certain the Q8 will hit those low prices, it seems likely that LG will use the Q8 to introduce the premium features of the V20 to a wider audience.
From all appearances, this is a smaller V20 — even the second screen is there. But I know that some of you are dying to see what this phone has in store. Here are the specs, compared with the V20 & samsung s7 Edge:

The only differences we saw with these devices were the pricing, memory, and storage capacities, but it seems the goal here was to bring the look of a flagship down into the mid-range market. Now the company is seemingly changing ideas here and has revealed their newest Q series device, the LG Q8.
